Welcome to Reel Busy Charters and another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. The lack of cold fronts has the sailfish season off to a slow start but that’s all about to change. Acres of baitfish are showing up and there’s no doubt the packs of sailfish and cobia we’ve been waiting for won’t be far behind.
We’ve been catching 1 or 2 sailfish on most of our Stuart Florida Fishing Charters but we should be catching at least 3 to 5 this time of year. There’s packs of migratory sailfish coming down the coast with every cold front and right now they’re about 40 to 50 miles north of us. We’ll start seeing these packs as early as this week and should have an excellent sailfish bite through February this year.
The dolphin or mahi mahi provided most of the offshore action last week and the dolphin fishing should continue to be good to excellent on most days. Five to fifteen pound dolphin are moving around in packs so there’s been some quiet time in-between the pandemonium.
Kingfish are still abundant along the reefs and wrecks and although they might not be as tasty as mahi mahi , smoked kingfish is excellent.
Sailfish and Dolphin are the main attraction this time of year but we’ll also be catching kingfish, wahoo, tuna and cobia. Give us a call and get hooked up with a great day on the water catching fish. Capt. Wayne Brodeur, 772-341-6609 Reel Busy Charters
